if to one girl, freedom means walking alone at night without fear,
then equality must mean parents not scolding their children for mingling with the household help.
Dexter: AAAAAAAAAAAAH! Dee Dee: AAAAAAAAAAAH! Dexter: Dee Dee, did you see the slimy disgusting spook fish that almost killed me? Dee Dee: No, I just like to run around and scream real loud.

uhuh, isn't it true that what we actually ask of yayas and helpers, is their love and care (and efficiency and quality work), for the kids especially. so there -- how can you ask for someone's love, and not give back fairly enough.
(the prostituted woman maria in paulo coelho's eleven minutes says: i have to think and write about love or else my soul will die)

yes, V. love and care that even if you tried, just can never be compensated every 15th and 30th.
it breaks my heart because i miss my yaya so much, and i enjoyed my childhood singing and laughing and watching movies with helpers, and even now, when im back home, they are part of the family that welcomes me and lovingly interferes with my life; and then i hear about people like that, people who were raised to treat them so differently. i find that in some households, helpers do not eat the same food as the family :-(
